Press Alert’s advice and training are at the heart of Government Crisis Communications strategy. As part of the UK Civil Contingencies Secretariat, training for the Cabinet Office at its Emergency Planning College for nine years to 2008, we were architects of advice in the release of public information, through the media, in an emergency. This advice is now replicated in the HM Government national emergency plan – Emergency Response and Recovery – launched in August 2009. Our public sector clients include the Department of Business Innovation and Skills for whom we provided media input into its COBR-based national exercise in 2009, the UK’s Counter-Terror Command – delivering media training and input on behalf of City of London Police’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear incident command – and the British Army, in Brigade-level exercises in advance of vulnerable events such as the G8 Summit.

Press Alert has trained the Business Continuity Heads of the world’s Central Banks on behalf of the Bank of England and across Government Departments including the senior civilian staff of the MoD, Whitehall. In local government we prepare the Gold Commanders of the emergency services, emergency planners, executive members, lead officers, head teachers and communications staff for media involvement.
